Today, RÚV English Radio visits another Icelandic island - although this one sits within the town of Blönduós.
Hrútey island sits in the river Blanda, in the north Iceland town of Blönduós. A nature reserve, it is covered with grass, with bushes and trees growing, while many species of non-marine birds also call this place home.
The pedestrian bridge linking the town to the island has a fascinating history too; built in the 19th century, then moved twice, before fulfilling its current role.
RÚV English Radio is heard around the world and in Iceland, celebrating Icelandic culture, art, music, language, and more.
