Today, RÚV English Radio is in Reykholt, at Snorrastofa.
Snorrastofa - https://www.snorrastofa.is/ - is located in Reykholt in western Iceland, the main residence of Iceland’s greatest medieval writer, poet, scholar and statesman, Snorri Sturluson, who lived from 1179 to 1241.
Snorri's major work, the Prose Edda, is the most detailed and fullest source of modern knowledge of the Norse Myths, stories which have reverberated through the centuries, and have inspired countless works of art including Wagnerian operas and the fantasy literature of Tolkein, TV shows such as Game Of Thrones and Ragnarok, and the comic and film franchises of Marvel.
There is however much more to Snorri's remarkable life than his gathering of the Myths.
Darren visited Snorrastofa in the company of Sigrún Guttormsdóttir Þormar, to trace the life of a remarkable Icelander.
