The Women's Shelter (Kvennaathvarf) offers safe shelter, advice and support for women and their children who have to flee their homes due to violence (https://kvennaathvarf.is/en/).
A new shelter is currently being built in the capital.
Helping to raise funds are a wide group of artists who are donating their work to be sold at Kirsuberjatréð (https://www.arthouseborgarnes.com/) on 25 and 26 April. Donations are still welcome!
Darren spoke to shelter director Linda Dröfn Gunnarsdóttir, and artist Kölskið, who is donating two pieces, one of which (pictured right) depicts Hallgerðr "longbrók" Höskuldsdóttir, a major character in Njáls saga.
