Today, RÚV English is in Hólmavík, heading back to the seventeenth century, and the age of sorcery and witchcraft in Strandir, in Iceland's Westfjords.
The Westfjords town of Hólmavík is home to the Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft, a museum dedicated to the folklore and history of those practises in Iceland.
The museum contains various permanent and special exhibitions on subjects such as the "necropants", Icelandic magical staves, Tilberi and Icelandic grimoires.
An upstairs area focuses on the history of witch hunts in Iceland, and the genealogy of witches and their accusers.
It is a fascinating and slightly spooky place, and Darren was guided through its exhibits by Anna Björg Þórarinsdóttir.
