Today, RÚV English Radio learns about an initiative to promote the STEM subjects in Húsavík, and beyond.
STEM stands for Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics. In Húsavík, an organisation exists to recognise the importance of those subjects.
STEM Húsavík - https://stemhusavik.is/ - is the first interdisciplinary STEM educational network in Iceland. It seeks to "empower residents and build skills by connecting diverse resources, nature and society."
But why Húsavík? And what does the organisation do to increase access to and awareness of the subjects in the town?
Darren met with Huld Hafliðadóttir, director and founder of STEM Húsavík, and Bridget Burger, a consultant to the organisation and Fulbright expert, to learn more.
