The Icelandic Composers Society created the Dark Music Days festival back in 1980.
It debuts new and often experimental works that seek to reflect the ever-growing diversity and creativity of contemporary music.
The five-day event brings a feast of new music to Iceland's capital, and to hear more, Darren met with festival manager Gunnhildur Einarsdóttir - also one of this week's performers.
