Today, RÚV English is on the lookout for an elusive and ancient creature.
Lagarfjlót is a narrow lake in the east of Iceland. You can follow it south as you drive from Egilsstaðir.
The stunning beauty of the lake is far from its only attraction. According to legend, the deep lake is said to hold a beast called the Lagarfljót Wyrm, of whom there have been apparent sightings and reports since 1345.
Darren went to Skriðuklaustur on the lake side to meet Skúli Björn Gunnarsson, and hear more about the Wyrm, and whether it is still seen today.
Skriðuklaustur is also the site of an abandoned ancient monastery and the home of writer Gunnar Gunnarsson, and you can hear shows about those soon on RÚV English Radio too.
