<ul><li data-block-key="o547l">This is the RÚV English <b>live blog</b> on the Women&#x27;s Strike, which will update throughout the day.</li><li data-block-key="24t5l">Women are stopping work for a full 24 hours today, October 24, 2023 - forty eight years on from the first Women&#x27;s Strike day in 1975.</li><li data-block-key="9gmma">The gender pay gap is in the foreground, but so is the fight against gender-based violence.</li><li data-block-key="cl53c">Another issue is women&#x27;s unpaid work, such as child care and housework - what is called the third shift.</li><li data-block-key="9ijgh">This is the sixth women&#x27;s strike since Women&#x27;s Day in 1975 and the longest since then, or in 48 years.</li><li data-block-key="3r0em">The strike is called from midnight to midnight.</li></ul>
